BLUE MOON

The "Blue Moon" appeared over Nairn on 31st December 09. This occurs when there is a full moon twice in a month rather than the moon actually being "blue" in colour.

We had a very clear sky at Hogmanay 2009 and the Blue Moon was very clear being surrounded by a slight halo when I took the photograph.
