Ian and Anne Ross, Kingsgrove NSW said at 9:15 on Friday 27th of August 2010:

Hi Marie & Elspeth, We are back in Australia and just wanted to thank you for your brilliant organisation which helped us enjoy an amazing stay in Scotland. All the accomodation was exceptional and the itinerary was brilliant. It seemed each place we stayed was better than it's predecessor and that's saying something. And we got the distinct impression that our bookings through you secured us the best welcome and the pick of the rooms. Please let all the proprietors know how much we appreciated our stays, and their world-beating breakfasts. Highlights were the Isle of Skye, the Highland Games at Morar, the drive to Ullapool through Torridon, the Salmon at the Falls of Shin, finding Ross Castle and the incredible Croik Church (where everyone in the graveyard was a "Ross"). Then there was Culloden, Buckie, the gorgeous Fordyce and its nearby coast and the beauty of Pitlochry. And then there was Edinburgh, the Tatoo and barely enough time for the Festival (what an event!). So thanks again. We'll be back- we have the McKay areas to see next time, and we'll book through SME again! Thanks again, Ian & Anne Ross.

Hi Marie, We are back home in New York and adjusting to the time changes. The trip went well and we enjoyed the beautiful countryside and the very friendly, helpful people. James Williamson was especially helpful and most patient with us. By giving us the opportunity to drive his car he surely enabled us to build our confidence. In retrospect we tried to cover too much area and the car travel from place to place left us feeling too rushed. Actually the driving itself was OK but I did have to concentrate on the roads and use Estelle as a narrator of the sights more than I would have liked. We had a flat tire on the one lane back road from Kylesku to Lochinver but we did get to Lochinver and were able to put on the spare. It was the day of the Highland Games there and everything was closed- even the police station, the garage, and the post office. A very helpful shop worker assisted us in changing the tire.It was a momentary distraction and we were able to buy a new tire in Ullapool, also with the help of some very considerate people. The accommodations at each place were really very comfortable. The highlight of the trip was Kinloch Lodge where the service and the surroundings were elegant and the inn keeper, Tom, was especially welcoming even though we arrived before check in time. The dinner meal was also a delightful experience. Cameron House was a disappointment to us. The room and the grounds were lovely but we had been accustomed to personalized service and the place is too large and varied to provide that. It is probably best for families as there are alot of child-centered activities but it was a stark change from the B&Bs and the intimate Kinloch Lodge. There are many time share families staying there and perhaps the hotel's emphasis is on that segment of travelers. We take home many pleasant memories of your countryside and your considerate kinsmen. Thank you for all of your help in arranging the trip and we hope to be in contact in the future. Best...Steve and Estelle

Hi Marie, Sorry itís taken me so long to get back to you on our experience in Scotland. All your help with hotels & B&Bís was truly appreciated by all. Maggie is a joy of a person and made us feel at home in Edinburgh. The Inn after that was quaint and the food was excellent. My sister love wakening up to the sounds of the sheep in the fields. Our Nairn hotel was everything and more we were looking for on our Scotland vacation. We regret not having more time there. John and Ian were terrific and Sylviaís abilities in the kitchen were outstanding. The food was the best of the trip. The B&B on Loch Ness was also quaint and the setting beautiful. The biggest disappointment was there was no view overlooking Loch Ness. There were so many trees that the view was totally block. John and Glen were very polite and served a great breakfast. The Loch Fyne Castle was a fun experience for all. The Edinburgh hotel was a good place to end the trip, except for all the construction in Edinburgh that made it very difficult to navigate with our car. The next time I would stay closer to the airport. All & all it was a wonderful trip for all of us. Thanks for all of your help in making this trip a life full of memories. Sue & Rich Watt . Chicago.

Hi Marie- our trip was wonderful. Our castle was probably our least favorite but i knew that you booked it because of my clan Davidson connection. I think for my sonís first night in a castle he expected something more like the Edinburgh Castle., so I appreciated that part of it. Our hotel on the little island off Skye was the highlight of our trip. Really great place. Loved the rustic elegance. Wonderful food, room and people. Oban was also really good. Carol was a great person. Thanks so much again for your help and advice. The only downside was not getting to spend enough time in each place. If I could do it over I would have liked to send a few days or more in each area.. Thanks so much, Maryfran. USA

We had a great time. The folks at the Royal golf did a great job. The rooms were nice. Service was great and the food was really good. The girls at the front desks gave us lots of advice, from directing us to the Black Isle Show one day, to directing us to their favorite kiltmaker up in Hempstead. We really liked the hotel and staff. The restaurant at the castle wasn't as good and was pricey. Overall. Great time. Spent time at Dunrobin. Wife got to see where the rich relatives on the Sutherland side lived. Thanks again. Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T

Dave, Iíll be happy to give a reference. Feel free to call me if you would like. We couldnít have been more pleased with Marieís help on our recent trip to France. She knows the places, and planned an absolutely delightful holiday for us in Paris and Provence. Several years ago, I got to know Marie when I was planning a visit to Scotland for a week. Every place she chose for me to stay was perfect, and just what I had hoped for. The hosts in the inns were hospitable and friendly, and her guides to what to see were extremely helpful. I canít recommend her highly enough. A couple of years ago Marie was in Dallas and we enjoyed a nice dinner with her. Thereís obviously a reason she was chosen as Businesswoman of the Year in the Highlands. Everything she does, she does excellently. We also like the fact that we were able to pay for everything up front, rather than dealing with all the separate places. Again, if you would like to talk personally, we would be happy for you to call. If you donít get me, youíll talk with my wife Cyndy, who feels as positively as I do about Marie and her services. Have a great trip! Blair Monie Dallas, TX

Dear Mary and Elspeth Thank you for caring for us. We are sorry for coming late in Nairn and Edinburgh (we simply tried to see too much and the GPS gave us too optimistic time budgets!). The people there and in Ullapool were very kind and we enjoined the stay everywhere. The best bed was in Nairn: quite and broad! Super Hotel! I found your documentation at home after the tour, but that isn't your fault, we simply booked too late and were in a hurry. Kind regards Riccardo and Cinzia. Switzerland.

Marie and Elspeth: We had a lovely time on our trip to Scotland, as you might imagine! We felt very spoilt. Food was excellent at each of the 3 hotels you booked for us: Loch Lochy, Skye and Oban. Just the one ferry from Amandale on Skye to Mailaig was quite easy (reserved the day before). We loved the majesty of Glen Coe. Scottish Games in Taynuilt were very local, but special. Enjoyed the Cleidigh (sp?) in Oban. Well, the scenery everywhere is so wonderful. As much as we wouldn't want to be on a bus trip, there were times when we wished we weren't driving so much. :) Thank you for the nice bookings. We're tempted to do a tour of France now! Ann Gladwin Ann Arbor, Michigan.
